World Government On December 6th, our nation moved another step closer to world government when the House voted to give trade promotion authority (TPA), formerly known as "fast track," to President Bush. As can be clearly seen from the recent history of the European Union, economic integration precedes political integration. The trade promotion authority bill, H.R. 3005, giving President Bush trade promotion authority, explicitly acknowledges that one of the purposes of TPA is to complete the negotiations already in progress for a Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA). Once established, the FTAA could rapidly morph into a regional government with a new name, such as the "American Union." Once this happens, acknowledgement of a UN world government would be only a formality. Of course, we intend to derail this world government juggernaut through our Get US out! campaign. However, the Senate is expected to approve TPA early this year. While our long-term responsibility is to Get US out! of the UN; we have a short-term responsibility to help prevent passage of TPA in the Senate. And we shouldn’t neglect the House in case the bill goes to a Conference Committee and returns to the House for a second vote. See the specifics on this bill below. How to Contact Congress In the last few months, the anthrax threat has created one new and major disadvantage for sending letters to the Capitol through the mail: slow and uncertain delivery. Until this situation improves, we recommend sending your letters to your congressmen via their local offices. We still encourage emails, faxes, phone calls, and personal visits.
